In collaboration with the Sumida Ward Office and the Election Management Committee, our team designed signage systems for the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly election held on June 22 and the House of Councillors election on July 20. The project aimed to contribute to smoother election operations while creating a friendlier and more approachable atmosphere within polling stations, which had traditionally conveyed a formal and rigid impression.
The most challenging aspect was achieving visual neutrality—avoiding any color associations with political parties—while maintaining both visibility and clarity. By focusing on typographic consistency and effectively incorporating pictogram elements, the design achieved a balanced visual language that supports clear communication and an inclusive voting environment.
