This project conducted an event and promotional design for a conference through upcycled communication design, reinterpreting local craftsmanship and sustainability. Discarded test prints and packaging cushioning materials from Sumida’s local printing factories were transformed into posters, tote bags, and entry badges. By collaborating with students and local printing companies, the project explored new possibilities for reusing printing waste within design education. As a result, the discarded materials evolved into symbols of shared identity—connecting education, design, and community through sustainable visual communication.
